Garbisch, Judy Ann (August 19, 1939 - March 16, 2006)

Judy Garbisch age 66, of Granton, was called home to God on Thursday, March 16, 2006 from her home after a courageous 13 year battle with cancer.

Judy Ann Garbisch was born on August 19, 1939 in Menomonie, the daughter of Frank and Marie (Sweeney) Plummer. She attended Neillsville area grade schools and Neillsville High School. On March 29, 1958, she was united in marriage to Rueben Garbisch at the Lutheran Church in Pittsville, by Rev. Keller. She then helped her husband on the farm and raised her family. After the birth of their twins, Judy went to work as a nurses’ aid for the Bethel Convalescent Center in Arpin, and later for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Eventually she worked her way up to Unit Clerk before retiring in 1975. In the summer of 1993, Judy worked at her daughter’s restaurant in Sister Bay, in Door County. While there she took several art classes at the Peninsula Art School.

Judy’s love in life was her grandchildren and her family. She also enjoyed painting, making Afghans, and taking care of others. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton, and she and Rueben were members of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). Judy touched the lives of many and she will always be remembered as a kind, caring, loving woman who enjoyed her hats.

She is survived by her husband, Rueben; five children, LuAnn (Ron) Solberg, of Tomahawk, James (Jodi Koepp) Garbisch, of Marshfield, Robert (Debbie) Garbisch, of Loyal, Tammy (Gary) Anderson of Sister Bay, and Tommy (Christine) Garbisch of Granton; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special friend, Dell Hoagland, of Marshfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Blair, Bernard and Barney Plummer.

Funeral Services for Judy were held Monday, March 20, at the Zion Lutheran—Missouri Synod Church in Granton. Pastor John Trewyn officiated, with music provided by Ruth Severson, organist and Tawnya Featherston, soloist. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials will be designated by the family at a later date.
